Flextech can recover it even when it seems hopeless 90% of the time. We will first attempt an unobtrusive data recovery in our shop. If the problem appears to be a controller board issue, we can attempt to replace it. If we are still unable to retrieve data, a choice has to be made. If we believe it is due to a head that is stuck internally, we can open it and repair the problem. This is the least expensive solution. However, as true with many things, you get what you pay for, so we warn our clients ahead of time.  

It is highly recommended to have this done in a clean room environment. The only reason for us to make this attempt is if you do not want to pay the high price for shipping the drive to a data recovery specialty firm that has the clean room and special equipment to recover data at this level. Those charges are typically a minimum of $500 to as much as $4000 or even higher. That being said, we can ship your drive off, have it evaluated and give you an estimate. You can then choose to continue the process if you wish. ​

Know that at FlexTech, we never obligate you without knowing the costs of any of our services, whether in shop or serviced out. The hard drive is sent back at no cost to you should you choose not to take this more costly, yet more proven method. Our in-shop data recovery procedures are able to recover the data 50% of the time, but that improves to 90% when we ship it off.
